2024 Paths

We have three exciting paths this year!

  • In A Solarpunk Pentacle we work with Solarpunk as an overlay to the Pearl Pentacle. What tools emerge for justice and resilience? What does it mean to be a Solarpunk Witch? Facilitated by Brackin Firecracker and BrightFlame.
  • In the Elements of Magic we envision a more just and beautiful world and collaborate with our trusted allies to manifest that vision. The Elements have always been here. How are they calling us to be present? Facilitated by Ember and Ostara Hollyoak.
  • In The Triple Soul we have work to do! Our world is on fire with disaster. Our world is on fire with hope. The need is vast. Our time is brief. The Triple Soul tool of the Feri and Reclaiming traditions of witchcraft helps us align our souls and our work. Facilitated by Ayla and Yarrow.

A Solarpunk Pearl

By Brackin Firecracker and BrightFlame

In this path, we’ll work with a Solarpunk Pentacle as an overlay to Pearl. What narrative flows through the combined pentacles that can help us be more effective in the world and create the futures we desire? What tools emerge for justice and resilience? What does it mean to be a Solarpunk Witch?

When we gaze Pearl through the lens of the Great Turning (the pentacle many in Reclaiming work with based on Joanna Macy’s work), a Solarpunk Pentacle emerges. Solarpunk looks outward and focuses on mutuality and interconnection, as does the Pearl Pentacle. Solarpunk is a movement, an aesthetic, a genre, a memetic engine, and so much more. It’s dynamic as is ecstatic ritual and the pentacles we work with in Reclaiming. Solarpunk aligns with our activist, antiracist tradition and Reclaiming’s Principles of Unity.

This is an experiential and somatic path where we’ll run pentacles, walk pentacles, feel their energy in our bodies, and receive their wisdom through trance and aspecting. We’ll co-create ways of working with these pentacles. For more about solarpunk, see BrightFlame’s website: https://brightflame.com.

Elements of Magic

By Ember and Ostara Hollyoak

Pearl Pentacle inspires us to envision a more just and beautiful world. How can we work with our trusted allies to collaborate in manifesting that vision? The Elements are some of those allies and collaborators. Working with them can bring us back to ourselves, our connection with nature and all life. We’re introducing ourselves to new land for this community’s magic in 2024. While Spiralheart camp is new to this land, the Elements have always been here. How are they calling you to be present here? Will you invite them in as co-creators this week? (And perhaps beyond that?)

Elements of Magic is a space to explore the foundations of magical practice, ritual, and our community. For some, this serves as an introduction to Reclaiming Tradition, Spiralheart, or even Witchcraft as a whole. For others of us, it is an invitation to revisit and deepen relationships and practices with the support of community. This work welcomes new and returning campers.

Each day in path, we will focus on one of the five Elements – Air, Fire, Water, Earth, and Spirit – and some of the energies, associations, and practices that we connect with these allies. We will engage in discussion as well as experiential activities. In addition to the five Elements, “Elements” of Magic also refers to foundational practices and skills, the pieces we use in shaping ritual together, and nurturing our community as a whole. We will talk about some of Reclaiming’s history, as well as Spiralheart itself. Grounded in this tradition, we’ll move through the steps of ritual. Creating, entering, and acting in sacred space, we will play with the variety of tools in our witchy toy chest. By the end of the week, participants will have had opportunities to engage with all the steps of ritual, and a spectrum of techniques for use in both communal and personal practice.

There are no requirements for this path. All experience levels welcome! Elements of Magic is a core class that serves as a pre-requisite for many other classes in Reclaiming.

The Triple Soul

By Ayla and Yarrow

Our world is on fire with disaster. Our world is on fire with hope. The need is vast. Our time is brief. We have work to do!

The Feri and Reclaiming traditions of witchcraft view our soul as a triple: the Fetch who perceives and acts without second thoughts, the Shining One who speaks and thinks and creates beauty, and the Sacred Dove, the part of us that is part of the divine. When our triple soul acts and speaks and reaches for divinity as one, then we are in the work and the work is in us.

The Pirkei Avot says “You are not required to finish the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.” But what is the work?  What is our place in it? What is our work?

What is our work? We are, each of us is, a child, an animal, living in the glory and terror of the Earth.  We work in Earth.

What is our work? We are, each of us is, a story teller, a worldmaker, speaking truth and falsehood in the glory and terror of the Word. We work in telling. We work in making.

What is our work? We are, each of us is, a divinity, creating and destroying, an expression of the glory and terror of the Universe. We work in creation. We work in destruction. We work in creation again.

Join us at SpiralHeart. We will dive deep, connecting with Fetch, with Shining One, with Sacred Dove — connecting with our work, with the fire of hope that lives on in the midst of disaster.

We’ll use trance, ritual, music, crafts  and hands-on experiences and activities to strengthen our relationships to these parts of ourselves. We’ll explore each part of our soul through role-playing activities throughout the week in the safe space of camp. We’ll explore how our triple soul engages with the world.

We’ll find tools to develop or deepen our relationships to Fetch, Shining One and Sacred Dove. We’ll learn how to align these parts of our souls in order to become stronger and more balanced. We’ll explore how being aligned helps us in our personal lives and practices — and how being aligned helps empower us to change the world.
